Vocal Recital – Khayal Sangeet

Bhagyesh Marathe, born into a rich musical family and has been lucky to be a grandson of the legendary Indian classical vocalist Sangeet Bhushan Pt. Ram Marathe. Bhagyesh started taking initial training at the age of 20 from his father Pt. Sanjay Marathe and further mastered his talent and took training from Pt. Kedar Bodas at Dr. Gangubai Hangal Gurukul in Hubli Karnataka. He was fortunate to receive talim of Gwalior, Agra, Jaipur and Bhendi Bazaar gharana from Bodasji. Bhagyesh has won many scholarships and awards to name a few: CITI-NCPA Keserbai Kerkar scholarship for the year 2016-2017, Pt. Bhimsen Joshi scholarship by Maharashtra Government, Fellowship of Dr. Gangubai Hangal gurukul for 4 years as a scholar of gurukul, Dr.Vasantrao Deshpande yuva puraskar, Kusumagraj yuwa puraskar for excellence in khayal gayaki, Pt. Ramkrishna Vazebuwa Puraskar by Pune Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. He has also performed at several reputed festivals in India including Pt. Bhimsen Joshi Mahotsava, Pt. Ram Marathe Smruti Samaroha, Sushilatai Ganu Sangeet Mahotsav, Aadi Anant festival by NCPA and IIT Chennai, Dr. Vasantro Deshpande sangeet Mahotsav, Bandra sangeet sabha, Pt. Vishnu Digambar Festival, Delhi, Viraasat music festival, Dehradun, Kolkata music conference and many more.

Ameya Bichu has received music training from Shri Tanmay Deochake, Taalyogi Pandit Sureshji Talwalkar & Vidushi Padma Talwalkar. He has received several awards including Pt. Ram Marathe Award (2017 and 2019) for securing first prize in the competition organized by Shriranga Kalaniketan,Talegaon; Vimal Shreyakar Vaadan Puraskaar for securing first prize in the competition organized by Belgaum Art Circle. (2018); Late Smt and Shri. Rustomjee Sethna Trophy for standing first in the national level competition organized by Swar Sadhna Samiti, Mumbai. (2019), etc. He has accompanied senior artists viz. Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri, Taalyogi Pandit Suresh Talwalkar, Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar, Ustad Taufiq Qureshi, Vidushi Padma Talwalkar, Vidushi Alka Deo Marulkar, Pandit Raghunandan Panshikar, Pandit Ramdas Palsule, Pandit Sanjeev Abhyankar, and many more artists of the younger generation in concerts all around India. He has also performed harmonium solos in Pune, Mumbai, Belgaum, Mudallgi(Karnataka), Ahmedabad and Bangalore.

Born in the family of musicians, Pranav Gurav obtained initial Tabla lessons from his father, Shri. Milind Gurav. Further, he obtained valuable guidance from Pt. Nana Mulye for 4 years. He has learnt under the able guidance of Pt. Suresh Samant for 10 years. Currently he has been obtaining the nuances in Tabla from Dr. Aneesh Pradhan, a noted Tabla player of the Farukhabad Gharana. Also, he has been learning intricacies of Tabla from his grandfather, Shri. Maharudra Dhumal for a past few years. Pranav is passionate about pursuing Tabla as a solo performer as well as an accompanist for classical vocal and instrumental. He has accompanied many senior musicians as well as young musicians in concerts in India and abroad. Pranav is also passionate about taking the responsibility of promotion and preservation of Indian classical music through various events organized by the organization “Kalanidhi Arts Foundation” Pranav has been awarded scholarship by Central Government i.e. “Centre for Cultural Resource and Training scholarship to young artists 2016-17”. He has also received Late Dr. Aban Mistry Memorial Award by Swar Sadhana Samiti, Girgaon in the year 2015. Pranav has been fortunate to have participated in various festivals like Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki Mahotsav, Kumar Gandharva Sangeet Samaroh, Dewas, etc. Recently, Pranav has been awarded Ministry of Culture, Government of India’s Junior Research Fellowship for studying ‘Gurav tradition and its contribution to Indian classical music’.
